Who wags the dog?

Submitted Wednesday, October 06, 2010 by diner | Category: Politics
This is an interesting narrative on what happened to how we're in this place and it feels mostly correct to me . . . My problem today is, are the issues issues because the media focuses on them or because the president focuses on them?

It's odd for me to continue to hear the media reporting about jobs, then to have such a disconnect as the president pitching tech schools which is job related but it doesn't feel like it is but is rather a separate issue . . .

I know I'm not framing this well, because it's mostly goo in my brain, but it begs the question who decides what becomes a mainstream issue when? And if the president isn't fully addressing that issue once it becomes an issue, is he all of a sudden out of touch? Funny how congress and the senate can immediately react to these issues but there is a lag time before we hear a response from the president and then usually it's about something else . . .

Eg.

TOP NEW STORY - WE NEED JOBS

CONGRESS/SENATE RESPONSE - Yep! It's because (insert party name here) can't get it done!

PRESIDENT RESPONSE . . . AND, THAT my friends is why Applebee's makes amazing desserts!

HUH?!?!?

Fast forward six weeks . . .

PRESIDENT RESPONSE - YES, We need jobs, and that is why I am suggesting we support creating a new bill to support supporting supporters!

I still like the guy, glad I voted for him, but c'mon, I don't want to wait for the next state of the union address for him to finally address the issue from thee months ago . . .

Where are the wheels falling off the buggy here?
Disco :D
