Pigeon Beats South African DSL

Submitted Friday, September 11, 2009 by Kidsmoke | Category: Technology
A Durban IT company pitted an 11-month-old bird armed with a 4GB memory stick against the ADSL service from the country's biggest web firm, Telkom. Winston the pigeon took two hours to carry the data 60 miles - in the same time the ADSL had sent 4% of the data.

I love this...one of my favorite phrases is "never under estimate the bandwidth of FedEx". Because several times in the past couple of years I needed to transfer 500 GB of data. Our vendors were talking about setting up FTP servers and such...I just loaded up a external hard-drive and shipped it over night.
